Todd Jackson (pictured), owner and partner of McGowan Insurance Group, has assumed the position of Chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (Big “I”).

An Indiana veteran with more than three decades in the insurance industry, he is a longtime advocate and volunteer leader within the “Big I” at both the regional and national levels. His credentials include time on the Indiana State Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

In 2013, Jackson served as President of the Big “I” of Indiana. He also served on the National Board of Directors, spent time on the Trusted Choice® Board, and contributed to the Finance Committee. He joined the National Executive Committee in 2018.

“Todd’s dedication to independent news agencies and Big “I” members is evident in the many ways he has already served the association and in his continued passion for giving back to the independent agency system,” said Charles Symington, chairman and CEO of Big “I.”

“We are grateful for his leadership as Big “I” continues to evolve its technologies and programs to provide members with the tools they need to succeed in and beyond a challenging market.”

In his role as president, Jackson plans to focus on enhancing the association’s core offerings while driving operational efficiency. His initiatives will focus on improving member services and ensuring the association meets the changing needs of member agencies.

Strengthening the partnership between the National Assembly and major “I” groups at the state level will also be a key priority of his term.

“I am committed to working together to overcome the biggest challenges we face,” Jackson said. “I am committed to continuing the free and open exchange of ideas with our state leaders to make the big “I” better for our members.”

Jackson succeeds Mike McBride, president of Mason McBride in Troy, Michigan. McBride will remain on the Big “I” executive committee, serving as the company’s former chairman for one year.

Meanwhile, Lou Moran III, president of Inter-Agency Insurance Service in Knoxville, Tenn., has been named president-elect. Angela Ripley, president of VW Brown Insurance Services in Columbia, Md., has been named vice president for 2024-25.
