Aon has announced the retirement of Paul Davies as Vice Chairman after 36 years of service with the company and 63 years in the industry.

Davis assumed the role of Vice President in 2023, reporting to Aon CEO Greg Case. In this capacity, he provided strategic advice on the changing risk management landscape and helped strengthen Aon’s ability to manage risk capital.

The industry veteran began his career as a reinsurance broker in 1961 and later became president and owner of the reinsurance agency, which merged with Aon in 1988. Davies then founded and served as CEO of Aon Reinsurance, eventually becoming president of Aon Re Worldwide.

When Davis took over as vice president last year, Case commented: “By every measure, Paul embodies what it means to lead a truly remarkable and distinguished career, from the acquisition of his company by Aon 35 years ago, to the critical roles he has played in leading clients and colleagues during his tenure with the company.”

This time, the company’s CEO said: “On behalf of our colleagues around the world, I would like to recognize Paul’s exceptional contributions to the company in serving our customers.”

“Paul’s advice as Vice President has helped strengthen our venture capital management capabilities, and we wish Paul all the best as he begins his well-deserved retirement.”

Aon, which serves clients in more than 120 countries and sovereigns, has not provided details on succession plans for the vice president position. Last month, the company revealed the creation of a new chief administrative officer role for Lisa Stevens.

“With our marketing, communications and public affairs teams already working closely with colleagues in our HR organization, this office is a natural evolution and the right home for these teams as we look to build on our momentum and move forward faster as one global company,” Case confirmed in June.
