Aspen Insurance Holdings has launched Aspen Data Labs, a new platform aimed at advancing the company’s digital strategy with a focus on data and artificial intelligence.

Aspen said its data labs will enable employees and partners to collaborate on data science and AI projects to improve operational efficiency and accelerate outcomes in underwriting and claims processes.

The new platform is also described as a key part of Aspen’s broader data and technology strategy. The platform will ultimately provide access to AI platforms, frameworks and tools designed to enhance core business functions, customer experiences and overall performance. It will also create partnership opportunities with leading third parties for continued innovation.

To celebrate the launch, Aspen Data Labs will also host its first AI Data Summit in London from July 16-18. In partnership with innovation specialist LMarks, the event will provide a forum for employees and external suppliers to present ideas for improving underwriting and claims processes through data and technology.

Christian Dunleavy (pictured above, left), the group’s chief underwriting officer, stressed the importance of AI in Aspen’s strategy.

“Aspen Data Labs will be instrumental in enhancing our decision support systems to deliver solutions that improve our operations and customer outcomes. By strengthening our partner ecosystem with our in-house capabilities, we are enhancing our ability to innovate and deliver greater value, ensuring Aspen remains the partner of choice now and in the future,” he added.

Rob Hutton (pictured above, right), Aspen’s COO, also highlighted the launch of Aspen Data Labs and what it means for the company.

“Aspen Data Labs is the hub where we can build and develop our AI services, provide internal technology capabilities, hire AI talent and secure our future through responsible AI governance,” said Houghton. “It’s also about strong collaboration, and our first AI Data Summit is a great opportunity to share ideas, work with different teams and learn from external experts.”

Earlier this year, the global insurer also announced the launch of Aspen Cyber Risk Services (ACRS), a suite of services that will help Aspen insureds proactively address cybersecurity threats.
