Everest Insurance, a division of Everest Group, has appointed Stephen Bonpin (pictured) as its first-ever senior vice president of its North American casualty and industrial practice specialty lines.

Buonpane will lead the expansion of Everest’s casualty specialty lines, which include sectors such as energy, life sciences and environment. In addition, he will focus on expanding the industry practice set.

This strategic move is consistent with Everest’s goal of diversifying its industry-specific expertise and enhancing broker and client experiences across various products.

“I have known Stephen for many years, and he has long been a respected authority in specialty risk management,” said Bill Hazelton of Everest Insurance North America.

“Having developed a successful technology-enabled MGU (Management General Insurance) that pioneered innovative insurance products and digital solutions for commercial construction clients, he understands the dynamics and expectations of complex and highly specialized businesses.”

Buonpane has extensive experience in casualty insurance, industry practice development, and cross-selling strategies. His distinguished career includes senior roles at some of the world’s largest insurance companies.

Notably, he served as executive vice president and head of Chubb’s construction industry practice before co-founding Shepherd, where he served as chief insurance officer.

“Everest’s innovative culture and reputation for disciplined underwriting has helped us attract the best talent in our industry, and Stephen is a prime example of that,” commented Mike Mulray, president of Everest Insurance North America.

“His track record of creating new partnerships, enhancing profitability, and delivering world-class expertise aligns perfectly with our customer-first approach and vision to become the carrier of choice in the market focused on accidents and industry practices.”

In his new role, Bonpin will report to Hazelton, who heads the Retail and Industrial practices.
