Global brokerage firm Guy Carpenter has appointed Heather Legg (pictured above) as managing director of its Canadian brokerage team, further strengthening the firm’s leadership in the region.
Based in Toronto, Legg brings more than two decades of reinsurance underwriting and brokerage experience. Her responsibilities will include strengthening the company’s operations in Canada and enhancing the value Guy Carpenter delivers to its clients across the market.
Legg previously served as the lead agent for Validus Re’s Canadian branch from December 2019 to August 2024, where she led the company’s expansion into the Canadian market.

She also held senior positions at Aon Benfield, where she spent nearly 19 years managing client relationships, contract negotiations and business development for large and complex sales.
Legg’s career began at Guy Carpenter as a treaty reinsurance broker from 1994 to 1996.
In addition to Legg’s appointment, Guy Carpenter recently announced key leadership appointments for its North America Mutual and Personal Lines segments.
Ridge Mohley has been named regional mutual insurance segment leader, effective August 19, based in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Adam Kornick has assumed the role of personal lines segment leader, effective September 3, based in Chicago.
Both Mohly and Cornick report to Rob MacKenzie, President of Sales and Sectors, North America, Guy Carpenter.
The appointments of Mohly and Cornick reflect Guy Carpenter’s strategy to strengthen its focus on specific market segments. Mohly will oversee the mutual insurance business, working closely with regional mutual insurance companies to address their reinsurance needs.
In his role as President of Personal Lines, Cornick will focus on strengthening the company’s personal lines offerings across North America.
These leadership changes, along with Legg’s appointment in Canada, are part of Guy Carpenter’s broader efforts to strengthen its market presence and provide specialized solutions to its clients. The addition of experienced industry professionals to key leadership positions is expected to support the company’s continued growth in both the Canadian and U.S. markets.
