Hub adds Vermont agency to its roster

Global insurance broking and financial services firm Hub International Limited has acquired The Essex Agency (formally known as Essex Agency, Inc.) for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered in Essex Junction, Vermont, The Essex Agency is an independent insurance agency focused on personal and commercial insurance, particularly in the construction and real estate sectors. This specialization aligns with Hub’s specialized practices, enhancing and expanding its existing capabilities, she said.

The Essex agency’s president, David Holton (pictured), vice president, John Handy, and their team will be integrated into the Hub’s New England operations.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Essex Agency team to the Hub,” said Sean McLaughlin, President of Hub New England. “They will significantly expand our expertise and offerings in Vermont by adding a deeply experienced team with respected leaders.

Under the deal, The Essex Agency will now operate as The Essex Agency, a Hub International company. The Vermont-based company joins Hub’s recent acquisitions, such as True North Group Insurance Services, Cargill Insurance and Merriwether & Williams.

Specializing in risk management, insurance, employee benefits, retirement, and wealth management products and services, Hub is headquartered in Illinois and employs more than 17,000 people across North America.
