Jacques Bonneau joins BritRe’s board of directors

BRIT has announced the appointment of former CEO and chairman of PartnerRe, Jacques Bonneau (pictured), as a non-executive director, subject to regulatory approval. Bonneau retired from PartnerRe in March this year.

Bono has been described as a highly regarded leader in the global reinsurance sector. Other positions he has held during his career include several senior executive roles at Chubb and senior advisor to the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).

“Based in Bermuda, Jack will bring significant experience, insights and relationships that will be of profound value to Brett as it embarks on a strategic plan to significantly expand its presence in Bermuda across property, casualty and specialty reinsurance,” Brett said.

For his part, CEO of Brett Martin Thompson expressed his pleasure at the addition of an experienced reinsurance professional to the company.

“We are delighted to appoint Jack to the Board of Brit Re and believe that welcoming an individual of his stature in the industry reflects Brit’s intent in Bermuda. We look forward to leveraging his experience and network.”

John Sullivan, Chief Underwriting Officer at Brit Group, added: “Building Brit Re to write a broader range of business is a natural next step for us. Bermuda is a dynamic and thriving multi-class reinsurance/reinsurance market, and we are excited about the opportunity to attract new local specialist talent to the business.” Combined with Brit’s existing reinsurance underwriting capabilities in London.

Meanwhile, Brit Re Chairman Graham Buiter said: “We welcome Jack to the Brit Re Board. His appointment will support our growth ambitions in Bermuda, as well as deepen the Board’s expertise and enhance our governance.”
