Lloyd’s Insurance has announced the members of the Inclusive Future Alliance, who will work to support and facilitate initiatives under the Inclusive Future banner.

The Inclusive Futures project is a collaborative effort to promote diversity within the industry and wider community, and aims to drive significant and lasting change by supporting black and ethnically diverse individuals from education to senior management roles.

The coalition includes marketing companies Arch, AXA XL, Beazley, Chubb, Hiscox, Howden, MS Amlin and Tokio Marine Kiln, as well as delivery partners Equity, Green Park and Lloyd’s of London. The initiatives they will fund and enable are Higher Education Scholarships, Early Career Talent Pool and Boardroom Talent Pool.

Alongside the Kauri Foundation and the Blackheart Foundation, Lloyd’s of London will offer scholarships starting in September to hundreds of black and ethnically diverse students pursuing degrees related to risk and insurance.

The coalition, in partnership with diversity specialist Equity, will create a talent pool of entry-level candidates from Black and ethnically diverse backgrounds. These candidates will receive an initial assessment, market orientation, evaluation, and interview training.

As for the board’s talent pool, the goal is to prepare black and racially diverse candidates for executive and “executive minus one” roles. The pool will be managed by Green Park, a talent acquisition and talent advisory firm.

In addition, a mentoring and sponsorship programme run by Lloyd’s will launch in September 2024, linking scholarship recipients and early career talent pool members with corporate sponsors.

Lloyd’s Chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown emphasised the importance of the Inclusive Future Alliance, saying: “We are now expanding our ambitions for what we can achieve through the launch of the Inclusive Future Alliance, leveraging the capabilities of our market and delivery partners to maximise the impact of the programme to deliver lasting change.”

Pointing to the wider benefits, Arch Insurance International CEO Hugh Sturgess said: “Creating more opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds benefits everyone, as it brings together individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds to spark new ideas, improve decision-making and ensure we tap into the widest pool of talent.”

“Ethnicity should not be a barrier to success,” added Andrew Carrier, CEO of MS Amlin. “By expanding opportunities from the classroom to the boardroom, we can create a more diverse marketplace and an industry that truly represents the communities we serve, both locally and internationally.”
