Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) has completed the acquisition of Horton Group, Ltd.

The Horton Group, headquartered in Orland Park, Illinois, is an insurance brokerage firm offering property and casualty (P&C) insurance, employee benefits consulting, and personal lines coverage.

With this acquisition, Marsh McLennan Agency expands its presence in Indiana and strengthens its existing operations in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Florida.

As part of the deal, Horton Group employees will move to Marsh McLennan and will continue to operate from their nine existing locations.

Founded in 1971, Horton Group has established itself as one of the largest insurance brokers in the country, providing comprehensive insurance solutions to businesses and individuals.

MMA’s acquisition of Horton Group is the latest in a series of expansions for Marsh’s business.

Other recent MMA acquisitions

Last month, the company also announced its acquisition of AmeriStar Agency, Inc., an independent agency based in Wayzata, Minnesota.

Founded in 1987, AmeriStar provides a range of insurance coverage solutions for high-net-worth individuals and commercial clients. All AmeriStar employees, including President Matt Shadow, joined Marsh McLennan and continue to operate out of their current office in Wayzata.

In June, MMA also acquired Perkins Insurance Agencies, an independent agency based in Abilene, Texas.

Founded in 1977, Perkins Insurance provides commercial property, casualty and personal insurance coverage to businesses, non-profits and families in West Texas. The agency has experience in the oil and gas, trucking, farm and restaurant industries.
