Independent reinsurance specialist Miller has announced the appointment of Siva Krishnan (pictured above) as Head of Sports & Entertainment Asia.

Krishnan, who has spent the past three years working as an independent sports business consultant, has over 25 years of experience in the sports industry.

His background includes roles in sports business and event management, where he was involved in insurance procurement and incorporating insurance clauses into event contracts. Previous roles include roles at the Singapore Sports Council and ESPN STAR Sports.

Krishnan’s appointment is in line with Miller’s strategy to expand its sports and entertainment team into new geographies. The broker said the focus in the Asia-Pacific region will be on live events, sporting events, tours, sports associations, film and television.

This appointment follows a series of senior appointments by Miller in the region, including the recent appointment of Edward Cheek as Head of Credit and Political Risk Insurance in Asia.

Tim Nagel, president of Miller Sports & Entertainment, said Krishnan’s appointment represents an important step in the company’s expansion efforts.

He noted that Miller now has a fully developed solution in the UK, Europe and Asia, reflecting the company’s commitment to getting closer to customers.

Ron White, President of Asia at Miller, added that Krishnan’s appointment further strengthens the company’s growth trajectory in Asia. He expressed his pleasure in welcoming Krishnan to the team.

Krishnan’s appointment to the sports and entertainment division comes shortly after Miller added Cedric Thevenot as the company’s chief account officer.

Thevenot brings more than 30 years of industry experience to his new role, most recently working at Versperin, an independent French brokerage firm. He has also held senior positions at Grasse-Savoie and AXA, focusing on the sports and leisure sector.
