BMS Group, an independent reinsurance broker, has announced the appointment of Charlie Roses (pictured above) as Group Chief Financial Officer and CEO.

Roses joins BMS from IG Group PLC, where he was Group CFO and CEO, and most recently Acting CEO. Roses brings over 30 years of industry experience, including roles as Group CFO and CEO at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, where he oversaw its acquisition by Marsh & McLennan.

Roses began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and went on to hold senior executive positions at IBM, Bank of America, and Barclays.

Roses’ appointment follows several recent additions to BMS’s executive team, including Emmanuel Clarke as Chairman, Chris Brooke as Group Chief Operating Officer, and Ali Trautmansdorff as Group Chief People Officer.

This leadership expansion also coincides with a period of significant growth for BMS, marked by investment from Eurazeo and 12 global acquisitions.

Roses will report to BMS Group Chief Executive Nick Cooke in London and will take up his role in November. Roses succeeds Nick Moss, Group Finance Director, who has retired.

Cook explained that Roses has extensive experience leading operations in the UK and internationally, and has led significant growth for global institutions and FTSE organisations.

“He has extensive experience leading operations in the UK and overseas, and has successfully driven significant growth for global and FTSE listed organisations,” said Cook. “His experience will be crucial as BMS looks to build on its momentum, deliver on its growth ambitions and enhance its reputation as a home for an innovative, collaborative and high-performance culture. I would also like to thank Nick Moss for his tremendous contribution to the company over the past five years. Nick has been the driving force behind BMS’s incredible growth and we all wish him well in his retirement.”

In his new role, Roses will work with Cook and the executive leadership team to drive the group’s strategy, organic growth plans and ambitious global M&A program. Roses will join the BMS Holdings Group Board of Directors and lead M&A. He will also oversee strategic planning, risk management and internal audit functions.

Roses expressed his excitement about joining BMS.

“Nick and his team are exceptional, and this is evident in the tremendous growth that BMS has achieved,” said Roses. “The opportunity to return to the insurance industry means a lot to me, especially with the opportunity to contribute to BMS at this exciting stage of its growth. I am very excited to be joining the team and look forward to working with my new colleagues.”
