Mosaic Insurance, Carbon Underwriting, BMS Group, and Smart Choice have announced changes to their employee rosters.

The team grows with 13 new teammates.

Mosaic Insurance has expanded its capacity to handle environmental risks, bringing on 13 experienced professionals as part of a strategic effort to grow its business across the Americas.

The expansion represents a new phase of development for Mosaic’s Environmental Responsibility division, which was introduced less than two years ago as the company’s seventh product line. The new hires (pictured above) have been hired across the United States, adding to an established group of seven environmental risk experts currently based in London, Toronto and Philadelphia.

Dugan will serve as chief environmental officer; Dominikun, Grassl, Horn, McDonald, Reilly, Steadman and Weber will serve as senior vice presidents; Enderlin, Sweeney and Zavistoskaite will serve as vice presidents; and Dehnavi and Terzoli will serve as assistant vice presidents.

“This will accelerate our expansion into the US, Canada and the broader Americas, and pave the way for immediate and broad market engagement across the region at a time when it is most needed,” said Jim Finamore, Mosaic’s Global Head of Environmental Responsibility.

This expansion follows Mosaic’s earlier move to a prominent office on 42nd Street in New York City and the appointment of Toby Smith as CEO of the Americas.

The head of the union’s administration arrives

Carbon Underwriting, which manages syndicates CBN 4747 and CBN 5757 at Lloyd’s, has appointed Julie Gallagher (pictured directly below) as head of syndicate management with immediate effect.

Gallagher moves to the role of Managing Director of Underwriting from Asta Capital, where she was Head of Client Management. Her extensive experience in syndicate performance management and relationship management will be instrumental in Carbon’s continued growth and innovation.

In her new role, Gallagher will oversee the performance and operations of Carbon’s syndicates, including Syndicate 5757, which has received Lloyd’s in-principle approval to begin underwriting early next year.

By 2025, Carbon expects to manage £400m of gross written premiums.

“I am excited to join Carbon at this pivotal moment in its development,” Gallagher commented. “Managing unions and fostering strong union relationships is critical to driving sustainable growth and ensuring long-term success.

“Carbon’s commitment to innovation, particularly through the Graphene platform, sets it apart in the industry. I am eager to contribute to this dynamic environment and help shape the future of Carbon syndicates, especially as we embark on our journey with Syndicate 5757.”

Appointment of a Chief Brokerage Officer in the Group

BMS Group, an independent insurance and reinsurance broker, has appointed UK-based Richard Dudley as Group Chief Brokerage Officer effective December.

With over three decades of experience, Dudley has held a range of senior industry positions, most recently as Head of Global Climate Strategy at Aon. His extensive background includes serving as CEO of Aon’s commercial brokerage business in London.

At BMS, Dudley will focus on developing the firm’s reinsurance platforms in both London and Bermuda. His established relationships and experience in managing large specialist companies will support the continued expansion of BMS’s London specialist division, led by Ian Gormley.

Dudley is currently a member of the Lloyd’s Board, where he chairs two committees aimed at transforming the market. He is also a former chairman of the London and International Insurance Brokers Association.

“Richard has a wealth of experience and will play a key role in supporting BMS as it continues to grow,” said BMS CEO Nick Cook. “His extensive experience across both disciplines and reinsurance, coupled with his relationships and history of working with colleagues, insurers, regulators and clients around the world, will be instrumental as BMS expands its international footprint.”

Agents Program Selects CFO

Brandon Flinchum (pictured below), a seasoned professional with two decades of experience at Forvis Mazars, is now CFO at Smart Choice, an agent program under the Global Insurance Network umbrella.

During his tenure at one of the largest public accounting firms in the United States, Flinchum held a variety of roles, including his most recent position as Executive Director of Triad’s Insurance Practice.

“With over $130 million in acquisitions in the past year, and EBITDA tripling since the end of 2022 – this was the perfect time to add a seasoned professional to our team,” explained Andrew Caldwell, President of Smart Choice.

“Brandon was also a member of the Forvis Mazars team that reviewed our financial statements in previous years, so he is very familiar with our business model.”

“Brandon and I serve on the United Way of Greater High Point Board of Directors, where he recently served as Chairman,” added Joe Fisher, Chief Operating Officer.

“His leadership skills and initiatives are important not only to our tremendous growth at Smart Choice, but also to our mission to give generously to our community.”
