Sompo has announced the appointment of Alan Morley (pictured right) as its new Head of UK Distribution and Head of Underwriting from the fourth quarter of the year.

“In his new role, Morley will be responsible for overseeing the coordination, development and delivery of Sompo’s UK distribution activities across the London market and regionally. He will be based in London and the appointment will be effective in the fourth quarter,” Sompo said in a statement.

Bob Thacker, CEO of UK Reinsurance, a commercial property and casualty insurer, also commented on the move.

His experience, acumen and understanding of the market, coupled with his outstanding leadership skills, will help us drive momentum across Sompo’s UK business and support our ambitions for continued profitable growth.”

Morley joined Sompo in 2019 following his time at AXA XL as Head of UK Brokerage Management. He has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, including 14 years in Zurich, before joining XL in 2014 as client and distribution leader.

He joins the company where Sompo has an A+ (Superior) rating from AM Best (XV size category) and A+ (Strong) from Standard & Poor’s. Sompo Holdings, Inc. shares. Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
