Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, part of the CRC Group, has expanded its team with the appointment of two key new employees.

Tony McIntosh has been appointed Head of Programs at Starwind Specialty, focusing on creating new insurance programs primarily for the cannabis industry. With over two decades of experience in the insurance industry, McIntosh’s expertise spans retail property and casualty brokerage as well as extensive mandated underwriting experience. He has been honored with numerous industry awards, including Insurance Business America Hot 100 in 2023, 2022, and 2020, and Insurance Business Global 100 in 2022.

He is joined at Starwind Specialty by Eric Morrison, who serves as executive vice president. Morrison has over 20 years of experience and has been instrumental in developing various underwriting authority programs. Most notably, he developed one of the largest grocery insurance programs in the country and was a key figure in launching the emerging cannabis insurance initiative. Morrison’s previous role was as executive leader of a leading public cannabis agency.

Brian Norman, President of Starwind Specialty, commented on the new appointments, saying, “With Tony and Eric on board, we have significantly strengthened the foundation of our team. Their knowledge and experience will drive innovation and competitiveness for our company, especially in niche markets like cannabis.”

Kunal Gulati, Executive Vice President of Starwind, also praised the new additions, noting that “Tony and Eric have been successful in managing specialty businesses and have consistently demonstrated their commitment to providing excellent customer service and developing efficient distribution networks.”

These appointments are part of Starwind’s strategic efforts to better serve its retail agency clients across the country.
