Mosaic Insurance has begun its fourth summer internship program, welcoming five undergraduate students to its offices in Bermuda, London, New York and Chicago.

Marlee Sagar has joined Mosaic’s Hamilton headquarters in Bermuda as a marketing, communications and strategy intern, while Isabelle Elliott-Hanson works with the Financial Institutions Assurance team in London. In addition, three students support Mosaic’s rapidly expanding Internet division: Jessica Broughton in London, Daniel Hoehler in New York, and Enzo Croy in Chicago.

“We are thrilled to once again engage young talent across business lines and regions,” said Lisa Fontanetta, Mosaic Chief of Staff. “As well as learning the ropes of their department, they are able to experience life within a growing, global company, and learn directly from senior leadership. We hope the training will showcase the variety of great career opportunities in our industry.”

Sagar, a Bermudian student at Seneca College in Toronto, is expected to graduate next spring with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management. At Mosaic, he supports underwriters, assists with analytics and communications, monitors social media and website metrics, and creates content. His projects include market research and planning a new corporate gift matching initiative.

“Being able to work for a global insurance company during its early years is an amazing opportunity that I couldn’t pass up,” Sagar said. “Having access to industry professionals and their expertise across the various specialty lines that Mosaic offers is extremely rewarding and a great foundation for my career.”

Elliot Hanson, a third-year student at the University of Sussex, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience. She collaborates with the underwriting team of financial institutions, learns how to assess and estimate risks, and becomes familiar with the coercion process and rating models.

Broughton, a Bermudian graduate of Cheltenham Women’s College in the UK, recently completed her first year at Queen’s University in Ontario, where she studied global development with a minor in politics. She works with insurance companies, attends meetings, updates rate sheets, and participates in training sessions focused on technical errors and omissions product coverage.

Hoehler, an American graduate of Haverford College, is scheduled to begin a master’s program in mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania this fall. His training includes attending underwriting meetings and helping to implement a new dashboard to review contract wording and compliance regulations.

Croy, a third-year philosophy and politics student at the University of Edinburgh, recently spent a year abroad at the University of Oslo. At Mosaic, he drafts proposals, reviews submissions, attends meetings with underwriters and brokers, and organizes submission data. It will also prepare a report on emerging and current cyber threats and trends.

“We look forward to having our interns work within the Mosaic culture, contribute to meaningful projects, and lay a foundation for successful careers,” said Don Haviland, Associate Vice President and Global Business Partner of Human Resources at Mosaic.

“They will participate in training opportunities unique to our company and industry, and will also benefit from the valuable insights of our experienced team. We wish them a warm welcome and a successful summer ahead.
